How I Got Started

Licensed Optician since 1985, the joy helping children and adults see is no different today than 30 years ago.

To me eyewear is a special purchase you only make every few years.  It is my responsibility to make sure it fits correctly, looks good and most importantly made correctly.  No matter how good it fits or how it looks if the prescription is not correctly put in the frame you will be unhappy with your vision and new eyewear.

In 1983 an eye doctor friend of my mom asked me if I would be interested in being an Optician.  At the time I did not know what an Optician was.  I looked into what an Optician was and decided to give it a go.  I enjoyed the different aspects of it so much I graduated with Cum Laude honors from the J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College of Opticianry.

In August of 2005 I opened On-Sight Optical, LLC.

In April of 2018 On-Sight Optical, llc changed to part time as I took a position as a Senior Supervisor at the Fluvanna Correctional Center for Women's optical lab.  Due to the time constraints of this position, I relocated the store to my mobile lab and closed the store located on Main St. in Stanardsville.

I still see customers by appointment for Warranty, minor repairs and adjustments.

About Me

I live in Stanardsville, the husband of Annette and father of Sierra.  I have spent over half my life working in Opticianry.  When not at work I love spending time with my family.  We enjoy playing card and board games, going to the movies as well as many other activities.

My favorite volunteer activity to participate in is the Greene County Lions Club.  As a Lion, I enjoy helping others by volunteering my time to help others see and hear through our fundraising events and free Vision Screenings.  I also volunteer as a Lion/Optician at many Remote Area Medical clinics
